DEFRA is to cut funding to several quangos including the long-running Royal Commission on Environmental Pollution (RCEP) and the Sustainable Development Commission (SDC). The Royal Commission, in particular, has played a hugely influential role in the development of British and European environmental regulation over the last 40 years and will be sadly missed.
